Playful, quirky, engaging, and sometimes plain daft: Haphazard is for kids and their adults, adults and their adults — anyone looking for a different day out!

A free Live Art takeover of Z-arts on Saturday 22 July from Noon to 3pm. Turn up at any time, come and go as you please… and expect the unexpected!
Lasers firing, slinkies dancing, book-learned mime, and a shower of confetti.
A flock of birds — scoundrels of the sky, laying woollen eggs, making dreams come true.
A bold pink giant spinning jellyfish.
One small nibble for mouse, one giant bite for micekind.
Magical bananas and a micro(wave) puppet show.
A nice big tower held together with cream.
Touch, mess, and play with everything — things are popping…

Entry: free, no booking required (come and go as you please).

NB with artists located in multiple spaces, and some works having a short duration and/or repeating, you may not get a chance to see everything.

Age Advisory: suitable for all ages (parent/guardian/carer discretion).
Allergy Warnings: latex (balloons) / popcorn.
Content Warnings: flashing light, laser & haze, loud/sudden noise; some works involve interaction, some may disturb; please click here for specific warnings.
Features: Live Art, performance, and participatory works with varied content.
NB takes place in a number of different spaces and formats — some seated, some standing, some spoken word, some visual, some participatory.

About
Haphazard is our frequent foray into ‘all ages’ Live Art, with intriguing images and offbeat oddities dotted around and about Hulme’s historic Z-arts building.
After a 4-year hiatus, this sixth edition presents thirteen works — previous editions have seen ping pong balls and squeaky toys; a singing fish and a sax-playing bear; paintball golf and human quoits; a giant periscope, a golden toilet, and a tiny bee-shaped world…
Get a feel for it by looking at image galleries from 2019, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2013 — and programmes from 2019, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2013.
